Payson City Library's Summer Reading Program is an educational online reading program for all ages! This year’s theme is “Jurassic Library: Unearth a Story” The program runs from May 26, 2026 through August 8, 2026 and aims to help maintain and improve literacy skills while learning new things in a fun and exciting way.
This reading program is an unofficial, fan-inspired educational experience inspired by the wonder and adventure of Jurassic Park.
With gratitude and full creative credit to Michael Crichton, Steven Spielberg, Universal Pictures, Amblin Entertainment, and everyone involved in creating this masterpiece. All rights to the original Jurassic Park story, film, characters, and related intellectual property belong to their rightful owners.
Thank you for inspiring generations to imagine, explore, and believe that discovery can be larger than life.
Parents can also use this opportunity to teach computer and internet skills to their children in a fun, safe and responsible way.
Families may choose the tracking method that works best for them. Some parents prefer to enter minutes for their children, while others like to let children enter their own achievements and see their progress as they go. This can be a helpful opportunity to practice safe, responsible digital skills in a limited and purposeful way.
Make sure you only have one window or tab open with the Reading Program. Do not enter minutes or mark off challenges while multiple accounts are open in multiple windows or tabs. It will cause the prizes to trigger for the wrong account.
If you find you are having trouble getting the website to open in Firefox, try Chrome or another browser.
You can sign up online at http://read.paysonutahlibrary.gov at any point during the reading program. The earlier you sign up, the more time you will have to read and earn more prizes!
We are offering five programs for our Reading Program, please choose the correct age group for each account.
If you have a birthday during the program, please use the age you will be turning to determine which program to signup for. You cannot change which age group you are in during the program.
Participants earn points as they read, receiving one point for every minute read. As readers record minutes and reach certain point goals, they level up. The main goal of the reading program is to read and record minutes, and completing the program means reaching the reading minute goal for your age group. Challenges, secret codes, events, badges, and other activities are optional extras that add fun and variety, but they are not required to finish the reading program.

Yes. Readers may choose any books they want to read. You do not have to read books that match the program theme. For example, during a dinosaur-themed program, dinosaur books are welcome, but readers may also read fantasy, mystery, graphic novels, picture books, nonfiction, audiobooks, rereads, or anything else they enjoy.
Some optional challenges may ask readers to try a certain type of book or activity, but challenges are not required to complete the reading program. Reading minutes from books of your choice still count toward your level goals.
There’s something for everyone in our reading program—you can read to earn points, take on challenges, earn badges, find secret codes, attend events and get prizes.
The only requirement to complete the reading program is reaching the reading minute goal for your age group. The options below show different ways families may choose to participate beyond reading.

We know every family participates differently. Some readers are excited to read for hours, while others need extra encouragement to stay engaged during the summer. Some families prefer very limited screen time, while others appreciate having guided, educational online activities available. Our goal is to provide a flexible program that keeps reading at the center while also offering optional challenges and activities for children, teens, and families who want more ways to participate.
Although there is no app for The Great Reading Adventure, you can create an icon on your phone to make it easy to access and use the website like an app.
