THE HATCHING
The lab under the library was very exciting.
Dinosaur eggs sat under warm lights.
For days, nothing happened.
Then one egg moved.
Crack!
A tiny dinosaur pushed out of the egg. It blinked, wobbled, and took its first steps.
Hammond smiled.
“We did it,” he said. “They’re alive!”
Soon, more eggs began to hatch. Baby dinosaurs chirped, squeaked, and explored the lab.
The team worked hard to keep them safe.
Nedrick looked at all the lights, locks, and machines.
“Great,” he muttered. “More things for me to fix.”
Dr. Malcolm Reed watched the baby dinosaurs closely.
“This is exciting," he said, “but it could be risky.”
But the baby dinosaurs were small.
They were safe.
And they were very cute.
For now.

HATCHLING EGG ALERT
Some dinosaur eggs are missing!
As a Hatchling Handler, your job is to find them.
Look for all 8 hidden eggs in the library. Some dinosaurs may already be hatching from their eggs!
If you find one, do not touch it or get too close. Ask a grown-up to help you take a picture of it, then enter its secret code online.
Find all 8 before the reading program is over to help protect the baby dinosaurs and earn a drawing ticket and a small prize.
Stay alert! These eggs won’t stay little for long.
